SARS is the revenue and customs agency of the state. Its primary function is to collect and administer all national taxes, duties and other levies. In addition it advises the Minister of Finance on revenue matters. |

SAPS is bound to prevent, combat and investigate crime. It also has a duty to protect the inhabitants of the country and uphold and enforce the law. |

This department plans, regulates and controls the national transport system in order to provide safe, efficient and cost-effective transport for South African industry and society as a whole. |

The National Treasury headed by the Director General deals with the national budget, economic policy, financial regulations and supply chain management. |

The GCIS provides media and communication services to government departments. It also strives to ensure open communication between government and members of the public. Another of its duties is to formulate and develop a communication policy for government. |

The DTI seeks to implement a shared growth initiative in the economy, promote direct investment and growth, and create employment. It promotes broader participation, equity and redress in the economy and attempts to increase exports and promote international trade. |
